Timeline of Proceedings
MPTS — Dr Keith Wolverson (GMC Ref 4328696)
2018
Incident at Royal Stoke University Hospital
During a consultation at Royal Stoke University Hospital, Dr Wolverson engaged in conduct toward a patient (Ms A) that was later found by the MPTS to constitute serious misconduct. In May 2018, Dr Wolverson sent an email to his employer describing his reasons for his conduct, which the 2022 tribunal subsequently found to be dishonest.
2022
GMC Investigation — Referral to MPTS
Following GMC investigation, the case was referred to the MPTS. The 2022 tribunal heard allegations of misconduct, dishonesty, and disrespectful conduct in clinical notes. The tribunal found the allegations proved and imposed a nine-month suspension.
November 2022
MPTS Writes to Dr Wolverson Confirming Suspension is Active
The MPTS wrote to Dr Wolverson confirming that the suspension order was active and that no appeal had been lodged with the High Court. Despite this, Dr Wolverson was found to have continued working locum shifts at Urgent Care Centres in Derby and Stoke-on-Trent, without informing his employer or agency of the suspension. The tribunal subsequently found this conduct to be of the utmost gravity.
August 2023
First Review Hearing — 12-Month Conditions Order Imposed
The first review of Dr Wolverson’s case. Dr Wolverson provided a reflective statement and gave oral evidence. The tribunal found fitness to practise remained impaired in the wider public interest. It imposed a 12-month conditions order, including a requirement to design a personal development plan addressing equality, diversity and inclusion (with particular reference to cultural diversity), candour and honesty, and stress management.
May–September 2024
Review Hearing — 12-Month Suspension Imposed
Hearing sat from 7–20 May 2024, was adjourned part heard, and resumed 16–19 September 2024. The tribunal found impairment remained and imposed a 12-month suspension order. (MPTS case reference: Dr Keith Wolverson May 24.)
9–10 October 2025
Review Hearing — Six-Month Suspension Imposed
Virtual review hearing. Dr Wolverson did not attend and was not represented. The tribunal found fitness to practise remained impaired by reason of misconduct. A six-month suspension was imposed. Dr Wolverson had disengaged from the GMC. No evidence of insight or remediation was provided. Primary source: MPTS Record of Determinations, October 2025 (OGL). (MPTS case reference: Dr Keith Wolverson Oct 25.)
December 2025
MPTS/GMC Correspondence Returned Undelivered
Letters sent by the GMC and MPTS to Dr Wolverson in December 2025 — by email and by hard copy to his registered postal address — were returned marked “addressee gone away.” Dr Wolverson had by this time completely disengaged from the regulator since May 2025.
9–10 April 2026
Final Review Hearing — Erasure Directed
Virtual review hearing. Dr Wolverson was neither present nor represented. The tribunal proceeded in his absence, satisfied that service had been effective. The tribunal found fitness to practise remained impaired. It determined that further suspension and conditions were unworkable given Dr Wolverson’s complete disengagement, his not having practised since 2022, and the absence of any evidence of insight or remediation. The tribunal directed erasure from the medical register. Chair: Mrs Emma Gilberthorpe. GMC representative: Ms Fiona Clancy, Counsel. The MPTS Record of Determinations was published on 10 April 2026.
Register status (as searched May 2026): Erasure directed; recorded as not yet in force pending appeal period. Editor must verify current status before publication.
